One of America's most beloved cities, Savannah transforms at Christmas time, becoming a wonderland full of events, shows, parades, and places serving up scrumptious holiday meals. Its historical backdrop is like no other, and while visiting during the holiday season you are transported back to a time when extravagant Christmas celebrations were way of life. Experience Savannah’s Christmas Traditions where mild winters, with daytime temperatures hovering in the mid-60s, are just the cherry on top! Upon arriving in Savannah, you will have time to discover the nationally recognized restaurant scene and exquisitely preserved historic district, and see why this southern city is a rare combination of sophistication, living history, natural beauty, and world class hospitality. We will check into our hotel- the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Savannah Historic District-this afternoon. You can walk anywhere from our hotel, situated inside Savannah’s Victorian historic district, with its 22 park-like squares, one of the largest designated National Historic Districts in the U.S. Its beauty is found by walking and shopping along the quaint streets and pathways. Our first night in Savannah is spent on the famous Savannah Riverboat! Back by popular demand, you will experience spectacular local Holiday Gospel entertainment and enjoy the savory flavors of the South as we cruise the Savannah River! We will spend three jolly-filled nights in the heart of Savannah, where over the next two days you will get to tour all of the highlights at your own pace with an included Hop-on-Hop-Off Trolley Pass. Be sure to hop-off at the points of interest surrounding the book “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” and the filming of “Forrest Gump.” You will also view historic buildings, mansions, churches and notable homes. Also, spend time at the “decked” out Marketplace that comes to life in full holiday spirit! Each night in Savannah as the twinkling Christmas lights glisten through the city, we will experience Savannah’s Christmas traditions. From an evening on the “Holly Jolly Trolley” where conductors are replaced by elves and carolers line the streets, to a night at the Historic Savannah Theater where the show “A Christmas Tradition” transforms the theater into a perfect holiday picture, sharing memories of the Christmas traditions you know and love- the holiday’s come alive each night throughout the city! As we depart Savannah, the fun continues with a visit to America’s Largest Home-Biltmore Estate! During the holiday’s Biltmore is a feast for the senses. Wrap yourself in the scent of fresh evergreens as you admire holiday décor featuring wreaths, garlands, and the sparkle of thousands of ornaments on more than 55 glorious Christmas trees. The celebration continues across the estate, including colorful holiday blooms in the Conservatory and special menus at the restaurants. We will enjoy a unique holiday dinner at the DeerPark Restaurant at the Biltmore, before departing for our final night on tour.
